Update on Hudhud contributions

Namaste.

With everyone's overflowing generosity, we pooled up a good sum 11 010 SEK which translated into RS 90 165, a little more than expectations. This amount has been remitted to "Jana Sankshema Samithi"(Seva Bharathi) towards its relief & rehab program in cyclone affected north Andhra Pradesh. Our, little but compassionate contribution may light a lamp of hope in the hearts of the Hudhud victims.

Wish the God to give us all the ability to continue our commitment to the cause of "Service to humanity".

Contributions from Sweden - Hudhud cyclone relief fund

Dear All,

Most of us would have followed the news about the devastating HUDHUD cyclone which hit India's coastline. This strongest cyclone to ever hit India has rendered thousands of people home less and severely destroyed the infrastructure. The loss is estimated to be at 10 billion USD. 

The affected are in urgent need of help and people across the globe are contributing their bit. Let us, the residents of Sweden, also contribute generously to the restoration of life back to normalcy. 

In order to make the remittance process simpler, Sweden Telugu Community(STC) is taking the initiative to collect individual contributions and reach them the needy. STC therefore appeals to all generous hearts to send their monetary contributions to the STC account (details at the bottom). The goal is to be able to send the first remittance at the turn of this month, so do send your contributions at the earliest. 

Request you to fill out this form(click here) as a quick first step, even before making the money transfer, to enable us keep track of the participation. Personal details (email, phone) are protected from public access.

STC has always been in forefront in initiating drives for charity activities whenever situations demanded. The most recent activity has been raising 12000 SEK fund for Uttarakhand flood victims which has been sent to Seva Bharathi, a voluntary organization known to start serving the needy before any other and effectively.

Hudhud cyclone - Contributions to Relief efforts

Dear All,
We all have seen pictures and videos of the destruction caused by Hudhud cyclone. The scale of it is never heard of. Thousands of people were rendered homeless. It is mostly the down trodden that bears the brunt of such calamities losing everything they own and look forward to help from every corner.

We have many generous hearts among us who are looking forward to initiatives to contribute to the relief work going-on on the ground. STC has always been in forefront in initiating drives to collect monetary contributions and also drive charity activities on the ground whenever situations demanded. Our most recent activity has been collecting money for Uttarakhand floods in which we have raised about 12 000 SEK and sent to Seva Bharathi organization which is known to spend every simple rupee effectively.

We have already started exploring various means to offer our contribution to the relief work. Please come forward with ideas/suggestions by blog posts or by email. In a couple of days we will come up with an action plan and the same will be communicated to all.

Picnic at Nickstabadet (Nynäshamn) - Saturday (2014-08-09)

Hope the summer so far had been great to all with lots of picnic events with close circle groups. Now, how about a picnic that cuts across all our close circles. It can be lot of fun if as many people as possible can come forward to mingle.

Make your SL Card loss-proof by registering it

It is clear that monthly SL card is one of the biggest expenditure for most of us. A summer card would be even more expensive. Hence it is wise to make SL card loss-proof. This is very simple to do, one just have to register the card on SL's website. After loss report, in about 5 working days, SL will send a new card by post. The validity date will be same as lost card. Remember that loss report card as soon as possible so there is less risk that an unauthorized person has time to travel on the card.

Loss warranty applies only if the card is registered on My SL on sl.se when it is lost. You can not register it afterwards to get the warranty.

Important note on STC Blog post mails

As you may have noticed, efforts are on to engage the community more often than before via blog posts. Periodically / Weekly(Friday) there will be mails on various subjects. 

Please do participate in blog activity. Any feedback in terms of your comments etc is appreciated. Invite your friends/spouse also to view the blog posts, if already not on the mailing list.

Some of you, for various reasons, may not like to be on the mailing list. One reason could be that you are no longer in Sweden. Hence you are requested to indicate, via mail, with one of the following action .

• "Delete my email id for all mailing purposes".
• "Delete my email id from newsletter but I would like to receive information on planned activities".
• "Replace my work email id with my private email id". (It is preferred that STC has your private email id in its contact list. Provide your old and new email ids ).

A card valid from May-Aug(4 months) will cost only 3 months' price, saving you one month's cost. Note that card is valid from 1st May till 31 Aug irrespective of when you buy it. So buying it as early as possible  make sense.
